Ganesh Himal / Langtang Trek Nepal - 21 Days

Starting from: Betrawati (Drive from Kathmandu 5 hour)
Ending at: Dhunche (Drive to Kathmandu)

This trek is a beautiful scenic trek leads you through the Tamang (one of the ethnic group of Nepal with its rich culture/tradition and peculiar life style) Villages and dense forests with gorgeous Himalayan flora and fauna. The enchanting panoramic view of mountains from Singla Bhanjyang and view of eye catching terrace land would be the unforgettable memory in life is the main attraction of this trek. To study about the life style, culture/tradition would be interesting for the anthropologists. Trekkers would be far from madding crowd in this trek. From Syabru, this trek leads you again one of the popular trekking area (Langtang) of Nepal. Langtang is a narrow valley, that lies just south of the Tibetan boarder, sandwiched between the main Himalayan range to the north and slightly lower range of snow clad peaks to the south. This high and isolated region is inhabited by people of Tibetan origin, who practice Buddhism. A visit to Langtang Valley offers and opportunity to explore villages and monasteries as to visit glaciers at the head of the valley and view of Mt. Langtang. Mt. Goshainkunda, Mt. Lirung , Mt. Ganesh Himal and Chinese mountains.

 

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival & transfer to hotel
Day 02: Kathamndu sightseeing

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Betrawati (1950m.) about 5 hours (on the way to Betrawati we will serve pack lunch) and trek to Ale Danda (Tamang Village) and camp. From Betrawati trek starts crossing 2 suspension bridge through a steep trail to Ale Danda takes about two hours walking. We will camp in a Tamang Village called Ale Danda. Before dinner the interested trekkers could interact with Tamang people on their culture and life style.

Day 04: Ale Danda to Bhalche (1300m.) : We will be walking through the Tamang Village viewing beautiful terrace hills, peculiar house of Tamang people before reaching the lunch place at Sat Dobato. After leaving Salangkhu river we gently ascend to Sat Dobato takes about 3 hours. After lunch we gently ascend about 3 and half hours to reach to Bhalche.

Day 05: Bhalche to Gai Kharka (2123m): This day we walk through the jungle to reach Gai Kharka (Cow Shed) Gai Kharka is a place for sheltering for cows to graze in winter. It is in mid of the jungle. We take lunch where water would be available. This day we walk about 6 hours. We could see Himalayan brightly coloured birds, rhododendron, dhaufney, fir, orchids etc.

Day 06: Gai Kharka to Rupche Kharka (3437m): We ascend all the jungle way about 6 hours to reach to Rupche Kharka camp site . We take our lunch in jungle where water would be available.

Day 07: Rupche Kharka to Singla Bhanjyang (4600m.): We ascend through the Himalayan/alpine jungle to reach camp site Singla Bhanjyang. It takes about 5 hours to reach this Bhanjyang (pass). From this Bhanjyang we can have a beautiful panoramic view of Mt. Dhaulagi range, Mt. Annapurna Range, Mt. Manaslu range and Mt. Langtang range and picturesque view of Tamang Village. We take pack lunch this day due to water problem

Day 08: Singla Bhanjyang to Alubari (2130m). This is the only one big descend of the trek. We descend via Burang takes about 5 and half hours. Alubari (potato farm) is small Tamang village. We take our lunch at Burang.

Day 09: Alubari to Sherthung (1900m): We gently descend about 4 and half hours to Sherthung. Sherthung is a big Tamang Village. Lunch break will be in a convenient place. This is a short day trek.

Day 10: Sherthung to Ure Kharka (2900m.): Before lunch we walk on the easy/flat trail and ascend to Ure Kharka about 6 and half hours. Ure Kharka is also the place for cattle to shelter in winter.

Day 11: Ure Kharka to Ghotlang (2355m): Easy walk on a flat trail before lunch. We descend to Ghotlang camp. This is the longest day for walking of this trek.

Day 12: Ghotlang to Shyabru Bensi (1462m): We descend to Shyabru Bensi about 5 hours. Syabru Bensi is a local market. Tibetan origin people are inhabiting since last generation in this village.

Day 13. Shyabru Bensi to Chongong (Lama Hotel 2380m.): The trial follows Langtang Khola to Lama Hotel. We gently ascend up to Lama Hotel. We could see peaks of the langtang mountains from this area.(6 hours)

Day 14: Lama Hotel to Langtang (3307m.): The trail gradually ascends to Langtang. Langtang is big Sherpa Village. We could see panoramic view of Langtang range. There is a monastery middle of the village.(6 hours)

Day 15: Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa (3749m): The trail gradually climb to Kyanjin Gompa with spectacular mountain view and takes about five hours. This is the last destination of this trek. If we have free time we could do day hike around this area or small trip to Langtang glaciers and peaks. There is a small monastery on the top of the village with few numbers of monks. There is also a Yak Cheese factory that is very famous in the world. We will do lunch and camp in Langtang

Day 16: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2380m): We follow the same trail back to Lama Hotel. We take lunch at Langtang.

Day 17: Lama Hotel to Syabru Village (3901m): We change the trail from Lama Hotel to the left side of the valley to Syabru Village. We ascend most of the trail passing through land slide zone. We take our lunch at Bamboo. Syabru is a big village of Sherpa community. We could see panoramic view of mountains. We could see picturesque view of Langtang valley. It takes about 6-7 hours to walk.

Day 18: Syabru Village to Dhunche (1866m): We descend through the jungle to Dhunche takes about 5 hours. This jungle is one of the national park of Nepal. We take lunch at Chautara (rest place) after finishing descend of this trail. We walk from Chautara on a rough road to Dhunche. Dhunche is a head Quarter of Rashuwa District. We conclude our trek here.

Day 19: Dhunche to Kathmandu (1330m): Morning drive to Kathmandu takes about 8 hours. Lunch would be taken on the way to Kathmandu.

Day 20: Kathmandu
Day 21: Final depature
